OA4PROMAS is subdivided in several layers: Production management, process management, batch management and machine control.  These modules and layers are connected with predefined and standard interfaces.  Its modular structure and interfaces are defined utilizing the worldwide ISA S88 and S95 process standards.  This results in maximum flexibility with updates requiring minimal effort.

OA4PROMAS consists of two modules:

• OA2produce is OA International’s comprehensive batch control, recipe execution, and work-in-progress (WIP) tracking system. This system uses the power of OAenterprise to enable real-time control and monitoring for batch manufacturing environments. OA2produce utilizes a highly advanced object-based and open architecture that is highly distributed with a user-friendly graphical user interface.
• OA2track&trace allows for comprehensive product track and trace capability to enable fast investigation of product genealogy, including origins, involved processes, storage locations, and delivery points.
  

OA4PROMAS also contains several process specific applications for the visualization, control, alarm management, an optimization of processes such as:
